# Adjusting Leverage

Leverage lets you control a larger position with a smaller amount of capital. It magnifies both gains and losses.

***

## How leverage works

Leverage borrows funds from the platform, using your own capital as collateral, so you can open a bigger position than your margin alone would allow.

**Total position size = Margin × Leverage**

On Hash Hedge, leverage can be set from **1x to 5x** on all available trading pairs.

## How to adjust it

1. Go to the **Trade** screen.
2. On the right side, click the leverage button (it shows your current setting, e.g. **Leverage 5X**).
3. Choose a level from **1x to 5x**.
4. Click **Confirm**.

Higher leverage increases your position size — and your risk — for the same margin. Keep your loss limits in mind when choosing a level.
